Dubai Uptown Tower: placement of the first panels on the façade

29 September 2020

At the Uptown Tower construction site in Dubai, Six Construct teams have placed the first panels of the façade. The façade, which will consist of 8,562 panels for a total surface area of 46,000 m², was designed by the experts from BESIX Engineering, the group’s in-house engineering department.

For Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), Six Construct is designing and building the 340-meter high Dubai Uptown Tower. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, this 81-storey building will be the first super-tall tower in Dubai's Uptown district. Offering a breath-taking view of Dubai's waterfront and iconic skyline, it will meet the highest environmental standards for high-rise buildings. The construction process, which makes extensive use of cutting edge digital technologies, began in 2019 and will be completed in 2021.

The design and construction of the Uptown Tower is carried out by Six Construct alone. The company can rely on the expertise of its in-house design office, as well as on the extensive experience of its operations teams in the field of skyscrapers. Six Construct and its parent company, BESIX, have been involved in the construction of numerous high rise buildings in recent years, in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Australia. These comprise the 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The contract to design and build the Uptown Tower was awarded to Six Construct by DMCC, the world’s No.1 Free Zone. In line with DMCC’s sustainability efforts, the Uptown Tower aims to achieve a LEED Gold certification ("Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design").
