Dubai Opens Major Pedestrian Bridge

8 October 2020

A unique four-way footbridge in the heart of Dubai has officially opened to the public. The innovative infrastructure was built by BESIX’ entity in the Middle East, Six Construct, for the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority [RTA Dubai]. It will allow pedestrians to safely cross one of the busiest junctions in the city.

The bridge is located on the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street in the Marina area. Its unique four-directional structure stretches over 75 metres and has four escalators linking the four sides of the junction. At rush hour, up to 8,000 people per hour in all directions are able to use the elevated crossing.

Six Construct is proud to have constructed a pedestrian bridge of this magnitude and to be part of RTA’s plans to rank among the word’s safest cities in traffic safety by 2021.

Other innovative infrastructure projects built by the entity include the Dubai Tram, which crosses this intersection every six minutes, the Shindagha Bridge, a 295-metre bridge featuring an iconic infinity design and the Shindagha Corridor Project, a large-scale multiphased project including two flyover bridges and a tunnel.
